Faisalabad is the third largest city and a big textile hub in Pakistan. This institution came into existence as Punjab Medical College which started functioning in the remote corner of Agriculture University, Lyallpur (Faisalabad) in 1973-74. Initially, District Headquarter Hospital was upgraded to 550 and was affiliated for teaching and training purposes. The new college campus was completed by 1981-82 comprising of many acres. Allied Hospital (1350 beds), DHQ Teaching Hospital (850 beds) and General Hospital Ghulam Muhammad Abad (300 beds) are the teaching hospitals presently affiliated with Faisalabad Medical University, Faisalabad Pakistan.
This institution is running undergraduate & postgraduate training programs in various disciplines. It is recognized by various national and international academic and disciplinary bodies. Annals of Punjab Medical College (APMC) is the official quarterly, open access medical research journal of Faisalabad Medical University, Faisalabad Pakistan.
On 5th May 2017, college was reconstituted and upgraded as a university for purpose of imparting better medical education. For detailed readings, click HERE
